My daughter got her learners permit for driving. I’m excited. We were told she can do her driving test in December. You go girl!!!
Now I have to say something.
“They” is a plural pronoun.
Star Trek is one of my favorite shows, and in a recent series one of the characters said “they” was that persons individual pronoun.
“He” “she” and “it” are singular.
I hate the way so many things seems to be trying to make “they” singular. Apps, social media. Too many things. I even find myself falling into the trap at times.
I have never been overly fond of English as a subject. That said, “they” was something I used in the singular when I was a teenager, if I was trying to be deliberately vague to my parents or some other adult. I was a real ass sometimes. I’m surprised my parents allowed me to live.
I was never the best English student. But I do know what a noun, pronoun, and a verb are. Adjectives, adverbs, and some other types of words I have to ask my children. At least they know the types of words.
