29 October 2026….hmmm

The way I am working at things in my backyard, I am just going to give you an inventory of some of what I have.

My backyard is not nearly as pretty as I would like it to be, but then again, I can only personally do so much.

My backyard contains the following,

  - 4 peppers

  - 5 citrus trees

  - 3 avocados

  - 5 pineapples

  - 5 papayas

  - Ginger

 -lemongrass

 - rosemary

- bunny ears cactus

 -aloe vera

- a poinsettia

- Pending planting:

  - 2 low-chill apple trees (Florida-developed for hot climates)

  - 4 pomegranate trees/bushes

  - 1 grapefruit tree

- Raised beds:

  - Tomatoes, luffa vine, and bitter melon (with bumpy gourds and red seeds)

- Existing yard growth:

  - Ash tree, various vines, mountain laurel, magnolia tree/bush, morning glories, and a fern-type plant

- Jerusalem artichoke (sunchoke):

One avocado tree we bought several years ago when my stepfather, Grandpa Larry as my children call him, died. I understand that he really liked avocados so we bought an avocado tree. It did very well for a while and even started growing some fruit, but something happened and it did not want to keep growing. Something made it just die. But after it was originally dead, it had some suckers come up that made it so it would still grow. It will not be the same kind of avocado we brought we bought, but now it might give us a new and better avocado. I guess we’ll find out.

In some ways, I would like a food Forrest, but I like to be able to get around in my wheelchair. Plus, I can’t do very much by myself.

I’m really not worried about my lawn because like I said before lawns are ridiculous in Texas. But maybe if I can find some kind of ground cover that likes Texas heat, that may be a good idea.

There are some things that need to work on in the backyard, but they will take a little while.
